Welcome to Sheepcamp Kennel and Livestock!
We are Stockdog Trainers.
Sandy Moore has been training dogs since 1976, beginning with competition
obedience and personal protection dogs. She has finished many conformation show dogs and
competed at high levels of agility in USDAA. Sandy began herding with Border Collie trainer and
stockman, Rupert Poe, in the early '80s. She worked with well over 100 Border Collies before
venturing into training other breeds such as the Belgian Sheepdog and German Shepherd Dog.
AKC formed a herding venue in 1992 and Sandy and her dogs competed at the very first
sanctioned event that year. Sandy has worked with all breeds of herding dogs and some in
the working group, as well. She has accomplished numerous firsts, including titling the first
Herding Champion (HCh) Belgian Malinois. She also bred the first Herding Champion HCh Belgian
Sheepdog, along with winning the High in Trial (HIT) at the Malinois Nationals. She has
competed and won many other High in Trials HIT at the Australian Shepherd Nationals (ASCA and
USASA), the Tervuren Nationals, the Collie Nationals, the Rottweiler Nationals and many German
Shepherd Dog Nationals.
Sandy lived in Gardnerville, NV for 15 years, and recently moved to the foothills just east of town.
There she lovingly cares for her flock, upwards of 70 sheep, as well as assorted Aussies and GSDs,
and numerous client dogs in for training.
Sandy has traveled to Australia, New Zealand, England, Texas, California, Alaska, Missouri,
Georgia, Montana, Florida, Maine, New York and throughout the US judging, trialing and giving
seminars. She is proud to share the art of herding with many other enthusiasts.
Mister, the Blue Dog, was Sandy's herding partner for many years. He is gone now, but his
memory lives on with all of us.
Terri Jones has been herding since 1997. She started her introduction
with a Belgian Shepherd she rescued. She brought Ranger to test with Sandy and unbeknownst to
her, it would lead to a passion for herding and a change in careers! Justin Tyme came along
in 1999, and with Terri’s dedication and persistence in learning the art of herding, Tyme was
soon a triple champion with awards in AKC, ASCA and AHBA.
Terri loves the teaching aspect of herding and nothing pleases her more than watching a
student excel with their own dog.
She has won the German Shepherd Nationals with both a client's dog, CH Mar Havens Rossi
V Marnier HSAs, and her own dog, Toiabe Chimay HSAs. She has titled dogs to many levels and
has enjoyed watching students achieve goals and HITs.
Terri has competed in many AKC, ASCA, and AHBA trials throughout the US, most recently
finishing the Working Trial Championship on Julie Yost's dog, WTCH Gearhearts Mystic New Moon
HX HRDII, while in Montana. Terri has traveled as far as Alaska judging AKC events and giving
seminars. She hopes to achieve her ASCA judge's license in the future and is very excited
about training and trialing the newest member of the Sheepcamp family: Aussie Rising Sun
of Sheepcamp (AKA Booger) and the newest addition: Rising Sun Minnesota Sox of Sheepcamp.
Triple Herding Trial Champion in AHBA, AKC and ASCA, Justin Tyme, owned and trialed
straight through by Terri Jones.
